The Magnificent Eleven

I had been waiting for this game for quite some time, well. since the wash out last December. Weather forecast: sunny / 25 degrees.. after 10 minutes in the sun it felt more like 30. A beautiful day to enjoy cricket with my buddy Spidermanda and this game is going to be a ripper..

Australia wins the toss.. yay!! .. and will bat first, now it's time for crucial business.. The boys didn't let us down ..Hayden 54, Symonds 59 and man of the match Ponting with his 124, then India had to chase 318 runs to win. As the overs went by, it was difficult for India to even get close to the required run rate and finally Australia won by 18 runs.. awesome!

That was an exciting game - Gilchrist 6 dismissals, Lee taking 5 wickets, Ponting getting past 11000 runs in ODIs.. not bad huh?

Another highlight: seeing the Little Master in action... well not with the bat (out for 2). Or should I call him the Tiny Master.. Sachin.. you legend!

Next game: this Sunday, even more serious business: the first final of the tri-series. Could be another Australia v India, not sure the Sri Lankans see it that way!

The Gift of Speed - Steven Carroll

Cricket? I've never understood it - with its silly names. As soon as anyone starts to explain the whole damn silly business to me, I stop listening straight away and wait for them to finish. None the wiser and no more interested than I was before. But they don't stop. They go on and on. Even from here, I hear them talking and I hear all those silly words and I know they're talking about it. And in the newspapers, and this little wireless I have beside me here. You can't get away from it. What is it with this cricket? I don't know I never have known and never will - but when I hear that boy throw that damn thing against the back fence, and I hear the fence giving way to the sheer force of whatever the boy's got in him - I know that there is something more than cricket going on. The fact that I don't know what that silly game is all about doesn't matter a bit - because I know there is something going on there that even he doesn't realise yet; something that, at the moment, he can only roll up into a red, leather ball and hurl through the air as fast as he can. Speed. That's all he wants. That's all any of them want, That's something else they can all have on their own because the faster you go through life, the faster you end up in a room like this with nothing much to do but sit around and think.

Something jolly in February

February is a pretty cool month I reckon.. should be hot in Sydney but we've had more grey and rainy days than anything .. though today it should feel like like a summer day (29 degrees.. sun is in the sky why oh why would I want to be anywhere else??).. and also Feb is the shortest month of the year.. and.. in my funky job, it means.. bonus and pay rise.. yay!!! sweeeeet!!

Yesterday, I finally got hold of my Aussie credit card (which technically is a debit card but I'll spare you the details) double yay! So.. I thought.. plastic money.. bonus... how about a week-end somewhere I've never been??.. A few clicks later I booked tickets to go to ..... Neeeeeeeeeeeew Zeeeeeeeeeeeeeealand!!! Friday 11 April I will set in foot in Christchurch ... oooooh exciting!!!

And while I was at it, I also booked tickets to go to Brisbane in May.. awesome possum!!!! (Frantic rubbing of hands) Can't wait!!!

And more exciting events to come .. Sunday = cricket!! It's been a while .. too long! This time Amanda will keep me company.. and just for the record I'm not dragging her there, she actually agreed to go.. ok??

Je vais tenter de m'adapter le plus rapidement possible a mon nouvel environnement pour vous presenter un joli blog.


Pour ceux qui ont rate les episodes precedents.. je suis French Sydneysider (aka FSS), j'ai quitte Paris au mois de juin 2006 pour venir faire un petit tour en Australie et Sydney c'etait tellement fun que je me suis dit bah je vais y rester!


Sur mon precedent blog je racontais ma vie ici, je tente de convertir mes lecteurs au cricket et de divertir avec mes photos et sur ce blog ca va continuer! :-)
